Once we find a house I like, what personal documents will I need to submit?
- A valid copy of your ID or passport
- A copy of your official Swiss work permit and legal document that proves your clean criminal record.
- The last 3 salary slips you received or a copy of your work contract confirming your income.
Do I have to provide a guarantee when renting a house?
You will be required to pay a ‘caution’ or deposit, which should not exceed 3 months’ rent by a bank guarantee. Swiss caution companies will also take care of your deposit on an annual basis.
Do I need to notify any organizations about my arrival? Is that the case, if so, which one?
The local commune and the “Office cantonal de la population et des migrations” (OCPM) must be notified of your arrival once you take up residence at your new address. Regardless of whether your work permit is in progress, the first document you need to prepare is your work permit.
In Switzerland, is basic health insurance compulsory?
